Unless you are planning on sleeping with the person, why does their sexual orientation matter? Are they polite, respectful and good people? Is there aloha in their heart? Then anything else doesn't really matter, does it?
Most gay folks I know are more "urban" than "rural" and would much prefer to vacation or live in Honolulu (or New York) than Puna. Considering how many hundreds of thousands of our tax dollars Hawaii Visitors Bureau spends on advertising and how long they've been working on getting tourists, I don't think one article is going to create "masses" of tourists. If it does, let HVB know and maybe they will pay a finder's fee or something.
