Well with all due respect I guess I should have asked about financial liability. I am aware of lots of cases of guns being stolen from their owners and misused without consequence to their owners. Similarly accidental shootings resulting in injury or death rarely if ever involve the gun owner paying for the medical or funeral costs. The taxpayers are primarily on the hook. I believe that better control on who owns guns will result in fewer deaths, injuries and financial cost to the taxpayers.
As for knife manufacturers I would suggest that they have liability insurance precisely to protect them in such an event. They are not automatically exempt.
My goal ultimately is to fund a study seeking to prevent or minimize further deaths and injuries to innocent victims such as school children.
Is this a bad thing? I do not assume nothing can be done.

Assume the best and ask questions.
