Around 1.6 million around the world (260 in Hawaii) die from diabetes every year. It also costs our economy $1.5 billion in healthcare, lost productivity, etc. It's not as exciting as death by firearm, so easier to ignore. Perhaps Hawaii should ban sugary drinks and candy bars? Require insurance to purchase them?
