In the 1960s in Honolulu people drove Hilo-style. Then traffic got steadily worse, their driving patterns evolved for efficiency.
If you are stuck in super heavy traffic, chill. Not much you can do. If heavy traffic is aggravated by lame driving....well....you better chill also. East Hawaii traffic officials are determined to resist efficient driving practices that are the norm most everywhere else. Airport's new speed bumps is an example.
