Forgot to mention I have hundreds of free channels our LG "smart" tv gets via the internet. But most of them are crap and its too difficult to weed through them all. Plus you can download apps that bring in more content. You can also watch live TV on youtube and most smart TVs have youtube apps preinstalled along with amazon and Netflix.

ETA: Same thing with our Sony "smart" DVD player. Between their various apps and channels hundreds and hundreds of channels of crap.
