KGMB news tonight ran a segment tonight stating that officials are pursuing the matter of a lava viewing site. The segment showed footage of the lava river in its full glory. Ikaika Marzo, co-owner of Kalapana Cultural Tours, commented on the widespread desire of people to view this beautiful sight.
The Trib article provided by Tom (above) citing officials' hesitation is probably the more accurate story. Protracted deliberation about important decisions is the order of the day in Hawaii County.
If the viewing site opens, protestors might emerge. Let's hope such activities will be confined to sign waving (at most), and not giving tourists and locals coming to see the lava overt bad vibes.
