I'm not catholic. I believe that when you invoke someone's prescense they respond. You don't have to be any denomination to ask St. Joseph for help (or any other Saint). The statue comes with a prayer card and we said the prayer last night at dinner. My Mom IS catholic and wholeheartedly believes in St. Joseph. My husband WAS a catholic and really enjoyed the reading of the prayer, as did I.
