Meanwhile, I'm curious if some users think the sand should stay in place (and boat ramp closed) to preserve the new pond. Swimming in the boat ramp before when boats were entering/leaving was tricky and technically illegal.
A poster on another thread suggested poor water quality; he cited dead fish already. With no channel to the ocean, maybe the water quality situation in the pond is hopeless. (I suppose there is some minor seepage through the sand.)
For the time being, the pond is the only safe swimming for a long ways around.
