Question: don't most police cars in Puna, when on patrol at night have their blue lights lit softly, just enough that you can see the blue glow over their car? I can see them from 200 feet away, on the road outside my house at night. There's probably a chance the suspect / victim saw that identifying light as the police pulled up at 1 AM in the morning, and reacted as a fugitive with $50,000 warrants for her arrest might respond. Or maybe she was just having a rough night, and didn't think it could possibly get any worse.
