Thank you all for your responses. Still hoping to hear at least one more reliable total for the full year. 256.48 inches is so far off the charts, it requires corroboration.
I usually rely on a friend for the numbers who was unfortunately under mandatory evacuation and unable to regularly maintain records.
@Rob Tucker -- I understand about the volcano-related rainfall bringing more rain than normal. Hawaii also had some wacky major storms that produced all that flooding in Hilo and points north -- I think on those occasions Hilo had a lot more rain than Leilani.
2018 was an interesting year.
