It's easy for keyboard warriors to be critical of police officers doing their job, but much harder to step into their shoes and do any better.

Use of private vehicles saves money so it can be used to keep more officers on the road.

Situations like this are rare in the county and we shouldn't design the entire police force around dealing with this kind of situation. While the morons who commit these crimes may be free for the short term, they eventually get caught. The more troubling question is why a guy with this kind of record was free in the first place.
