Kander - I am part of the astrophysical community and yet have said I have seen a UFO. I have not been ridiculed. I imagine the same would go for pilots, especially as they have a method to report things anonymously. However, you claim to know many airline pilots who have seen "flying disks". How come they report them to you and how do you know them? And just what have these reports to you include? You can safely report them here because obviously, the pilots remain anonymous.
And please remember, the flying saucer thing only came into existence when the press misinterpreted what an amateur pilot reported back in 1947 - and his description did not say he saw a disk or saucer, but the press decided to publish misleading reports. Oddly enough, that suddenly led to all sorts of other reports of flying saucers or disks which continue to this day. Just like reports of aliens looking like the Area 51 hoax aliens. Unfortunately, that is human nature.
I'm sorry, I'm a skeptic and have been one for a long time, but I do believe you have a genuine belief and I'm glad you've kept things civil, I appreciate that. I believe you're wrong and you believe I'm wrong. That is just fine and actually very healthy. It makes a change from the stuff some people post here.
