Are we having the latest HPP meeting right now in Punaweb?
It should be equally effective, though perhaps more entertaining.
This is where I ask, or suggest, or ponder, for the umpteenth time: the problems caused by "privately owned roads (open to the public)" were created by County, yet all the various associations are focused on internal struggle, strife, lawsuits.
It's almost as if nobody is interested in really solving the problem once and for all.
1. Association rules are pretty clear that "dues are collected for road maintenance". No lawsuits should be necessary to interpret this requirement. Just spend the dues collected on maintenance, and keep the receipts to prove the money was spent appropriately.
2. The roads don't need to be made public; an LID would suffice to remove roadwork administrative issues from the Association. Would the County do a better job? Maybe, maybe not, but I'm betting that County's overhead is less than the overhead of Association infighting.
Le'ts not lose sight of the big picture: our economy is based on tourism, retirees, and government employment. County is busy killing tourism with burdensome vacation rental regulations. Unmaintained roads and Association infighting will not attract retirees. A road maintenance LID would create government jobs and make the subdivision more pleasant for all residents.
