If it's going to be a shakedown Frank ... what do you figure - how much is sacred Maunakea worth?
Many, many years ago I read a book by Mircea Eliade, The Sacred & The Profane:
In The Sacred and the Profane, Mircea Eliade observes that while contemporary people believe their world is entirely profane, or secular, they still at times find themselves connected unconsciously to the memory of something sacred. It's this premise that both drives Eliade's exhaustive exploration of the sacred as it has manifested in space, time, nature and the cosmos, and life itself, and buttresses his expansive view of the human experience.
Frank, are you suggesting the sacred & the profane are just another table at the bazaar, sellers and buyers, everybody haggling for the best deal? Or is it possible as Eliade suggests, space and the cosmos are part of the sacred, and observation of space and the cosmos encompass the sacred?
