Closing off the free right "relief valve" was successful in allowing people from beyond HPP to get through the area faster by staying on 130 because the HPP route is now slower.
Downside #1 is the long line of cars on Shower that now have to wait for the light to turn right. I wouldn't mind hearing from somebody who experiences it how bad it really is.
Downside #2 is the people you speak of making a left from Pohaku. The right turn and thru traffic from Shower has the right of way, so people coming out of Pohaku have to wait through a full cycle to turn left, and have to wait in the intersection until the shower people are done, which happens when the light turns red. I can imagine those folks sitting on Pohaku behind a long line of cars getting a bit frustrated by watching 1 or 2 cars per cycle get through. And backtracking to Pohaku Place is no longer an option either.
Incredibly bad plan. I'm fortunate to be able to avoid it.
I hope it gets corrected before someone gets killed.
