Paper bags use something like 10x the resources of plastic bags; besides the manufacturing, they're also heavier/bulkier to ship.
The problem was never the straws/bags themselves, the problem has always been people carelessly discarding them into the environment.
Anyone remember how six-packs were held together with a "flannister" made of plastic? We had to get rid of those for the same reason. Did it do any good?
