FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH MON AFTERNOON
#3
Flash flood warning has been extended slightly and the forecast calls for isolated thunderstorms early.

FLASH FLOOD WATCH
ISSUED: 3:32 PM NOV. 18, 2019 – NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
...FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Kahoolawe, Kauai, Lanai, Maui, Molokai, Niihau, Oahu and the
Big Island.

* Through late tonight

* An upper level low will remain stationary over the western
portion of the island chain tonight before moving east. This
will produce unstable conditions across the state, bringing the
potential for locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for flash
flooding. Flash flooding is LIFE THREATENING. Do not cross fast
flowing water in your vehicle or on foot.

Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action if a Flash
Flood Warning is issued. If you experience heavy rain or rising
water, head to higher ground immediately.

ISSUED: 3:33 PM NOV. 18, 2019 – NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood advisory for...
The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County

* Until 630 PM HST.

* At 330 PM HST, radar indicated slow-moving thunderstorms over
leeward and interior portions of the Big Island. Heaviest rain was
between Pohakuloa and Kamuela, and between Waikoloa and leeward
Kohala, where rainfall rates greater than 2 inches are occurring.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
Pohakuloa Camp, Kamuela, Waikii, Waikoloa Village, and Kohala
Ranch.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to
flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 630 PM HST if heavy rain
persists.

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect through tonight.
