Mine went off two years ago? Ants. So a couple of months ago when they went, I checked for ants. None. Then tested the 9 volt batteries, and they were good. All three are hardwired as well. My conclusion: planned obsolesce. They were all replaced with new ones about three years ago, so they were not that old to begin with.
