Don't put any lime on it or the white parts will turn green and it will look like any other banana. Semi-shaded doesn't hurt ae'ae either because the white parts can sunburn in full sun. But they can handle full sun if that's where you put it.
Mulch the heck out of it, give it water and let it grow. Ae'ae do grow slower than the other bananas and they don't put out as many keiki but they are pretty hardy once they are established. The bananas will have stripes on them, when you get fruit. Doesn't taste as good as the apple banana, IMHO, but taste is all relative anyway.
