We use USAA for auto coverage and Dongbu for home.
When I last shopped years ago Dongbu and Liberty Mutual were within a few dollars of each other.
The reason why we have separate insurers is because USAA hurricane insurance is very high making their quote not even in the ballpark of competitive.
Our lender (Wells Fargo) requires us to have hurricane insurance even though we are nowhere near the water.
It is possible to get homeowners through one company and then hurricane through another.
"Allstate paid for SUV repair when a rat chewed spark plug cables"
You have no deductible, or they don't require a deductible on rat chewing? A rat chewed through our wires too and it never even dawned on me to make an insurance claim. The cables were like $30 and our deductible is $500.
