I did have to get them transported from Oahu to Hilo which added to the cost but to give you an example, I bought a sedan with 40,000 miles on it for $1,600, drove it for 5 years, then sold it locally for $2000.00. The other car I bought had 8,000 miles on it and I'm still driving it. It had 8 years of depreciation on the price but 6 months worth of use.
There are 27 vehicles in Honolulu going on auction starting in 2 days: https://autoauctions.gsa.gov/GSAAutoAuctions/
Not all of the 27 are family cars (trucks, buses, etc). Usually more info about the vehicles with pictures etc are posted when the auctions are live.
Normally on these auctions one is competing with car lot owners for the low mileage cars but with the economy the way it is, I don't know if that would be better or worse now.
