I haven’t tried the PictureThis app, but have used the PlantSnap app on my iPhone with some success. I’m not affiliated with PlantSnap, just a happy occasional user.
PlantSnap is (was?j free and works on plant photos you’ve taken on your smartphone. I have the “pro” version of the app, and it was only a few more bucks (one-time cost).

EDIT: I just noticed that the PlantSnap app pricing structure has changed since I got it some 5 years ago. At that time, as I recall, the app was offered as “free” and the “pro” version which I opted for, was only about 4bucks. It appears that prices have gone up - significantly. Your milage may vary - just to be clear. Sorry!
