when the oven is being used an electric "glow bar" has to be used to ensure the gas is always ignited
There is one Hotpoint model with battery spark ignition for both stovetop and oven. Home Depot used to be able to order them.
4 of the 6v golf cart batteries from Costco
These will last about 3 years if you don't maintain them; 2 x L16HC will perform better for about the same price. Myself, I got tired of the maintenance on wet batteries, the extra for AGM was worth it. Mattos (used to?) have L16 AGM.
It's perfectly fine to buy cheap equipment and burn it out as a learning experience, but if you have other things to do with your life, a nicer system is totally worth it.
