Spot would reduce the risk of officer exposure to COVID-19.
“To put a price tag on a possible exposure to the officers and their families—$150,000 I wouldn’t put that price on anybody, not ... homeless people,... social workers, ... officers,” he told the council.
It’s too bad “Honolulu police did not respond to requests for comment.”
Otherwise we might have found out whether the robodog identified any homeless people with a high temperature. Or if the dogbot electronically informed the person of their condition. Or whether an officer or medical worker then entered the camp to find the person. Of course that might have endangered the well being of the officer or medical personal as suggested in the article, or even threatened the rationale for a $150,000 robot dog.
