USPS is FedEx's largest customer, but obviously they don't do any last mile deliveries for USPS, in fact its the other way around with one of the FedEx products. The USPS Express Mail International envelope has (or had) the FedEx logo on it.

USPS is a pseudo-US government bureaucracy that loses billions of dollars a year. They are raising prices and decreasing service to slow the hemorrhaging. They will always be around because their existence is penned in the Constitution, but for a lot of package services they are no longer the best value. They still can't be beat for first class and flat-rate pricing.
