A recent report on how using guns to defend your home is working out in Hawaii.  More a criminal attractant than a thief deterrent:

The victim added that one of the masked suspects held him down while the other masked suspect and Gonsalves entered his residence and removed several items, including a pistol, a shotgun, and a rifle

The victim clearly associates with the wrong type of fellas. 

Look at those mug shots and charges!  There sure is a lot of human vermin on island, the vast majority of them being men.
