It used to be called Snow Roof, and under that name it was certified for use with potable water. Now it just says “non-toxic, eco-friendly”. I talked to a company rep several years ago about this and I believe (a bit fuzzy) the answer was that it was the same product but the benefit of having the certification on the new label wasn’t worth the effort to get it. I guess in the big scheme of things there aren’t that many people who care.
As a roof coating it is a very good product, and there are a few variations of it that you may find more suitable for your particular job. Ace Hardware carries it, and I think Home Depot does now too.
You’ll have to do your own research on application, whether to use the primer, etc. I have heard that spraying it creates issues with cleaning of equipment, so better have your guy look into that if he plans to spray it.
