airport parking price hikes effective 2/1/24

@terracore

My response about the CEO and ABM's wages/values/revenues was a 'tongue and cheek" response to kalakoa's response about the price increase being attributed to the "They gotta pay for the new minimum wage somehow..." comment.

"I used to drive to Kona to fly to the madland but at $24/day it will be cheaper for me to get dropped off at Hilo and fly to Honolulu with all the wasted carbon that entails.  So instead of getting $15/day from me they won't be getting anything.  From the comments I read a lot of the airport parking spaces are being taken by Turo participants, so there are plenty of other people willing to pay."

Have you looked at the monthly parking pass?

The old rates were $160.00 a month, which at $15.00 per day gave you a breakeven point of just under 10 days. At the new rate of $189.00 per month, the breakeven becomes just about 8 days at the new daily rate of $24.00. So, if your travels exceed 8 days a month - the monthly pass is the way to go. Plus, if you're gone for the whole month - $189.00 over 30 days equals $6.30 per day.

Plus, with the monthly pass, you get automated access/exit without having to wait in line. And you can come and go as you please.

I do, however, question the news release's bullet point of: "The parking concessionaire has committed to investing between $200,000 and $300,000 to install parking revenue control system equipment."

Could that imply that there seems to be an issue where parking is occurring without proper payment?
