Here in Hilo? Seriously? I mean SERIOUSLY?

"Have you ever seen a pie chart of how Hawaii state tax dollars are spent? Nearly 1/3 is under the umbrella of medical and healthcare. Which I assume includes people without homes."

You know what they say about assumptions. Fact is that medical and healthcare does not automatically equal mental health. You might be crazy, but you're not going to die. mental health and related programs have seen significant decreases in funding over the years. Queens Kikela, and the Hawaii State Hospital are prime but, not the only examples. Ask any qualified mental health professional active in the field for an extended period of time.

"I think the notion that the Republicans are in anyway ‘conservative’ is a joke. But I agree, we're short of tolerance for liars and thieves.."

It's good to know that you are the ambassador of Aloha. Do you ever think that your balanced view may show fringe bias? Either no, or you just don't care. Mental health topic seems applicable here.

"Liberal" and "liberty" share the same root word liber which means "free". Our founding fathers were liberals.

One might correctly argue that the definition of liberal during our founding father's time is nothing like it is today, and that conservatism is likely a closer relative.
