New hospital, medical campus project in Puna moving forward
#6
From the article:

"With the state grant and another $35,000 from Hawai‘i County, the foundation is starting with nearly $800,000. It is now reaching out to the Puna community and others, including state and national legislators who support the project, to come on board to help raise the rest of the necessary funding."

The total price for the hospital given is $160 million, so they have one half of one percent of the funds required. It took eight years and a change of governors to get $50 million from the state to expand Hilo Medical Center, and that was fast by Hawaii standards. I suggest that the Puna Community Medical Center Foundation go straight to the Feds, or better yet, to some of the private mega-donors such as the Gates and Bezos family foundations. We desperately need this for Puna, and hopefully the planners are exploring these options.
