This is a Civil Defense message for Saturday 05-11-2024 04:30 PM.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for the following districts: North and South Hilo and Puna.
A Flood Advisory means minor flooding is imminent or occurring.
Due to the Flood Advisory, be advised:
• Flooding can be life-threatening. Residents in flood prone areas are asked to remain alert for flooding conditions.
• Please drive with caution. Be on the alert for run-off, ponding of water, debris, and poor visibility.
• Do not attempt to cross flowing water in a vehicle or on foot; Stay out of rivers and drainage areas.
• Remember, if lightning threatens your area, the safest place to be is indoors.
You will be informed should conditions change.
