Another almost near disaster

It sounds like the flight just got too low on an approach to the airport. At nine miles out, I wonder what the correct elevation should have been?

On my last arrival at SeaTac we were just about to touch down when the pilot aborted the landing. We did a big circle around the area before finally coming back and touching down.

Several years ago, I was flying into Milwaukee, Wisconsin on a 757. It was considerably foggy and at night. As we were getting closer to landing, the Captain came on the intercom and, while paraphrasing here, but more or less says - in a very calm and even jovial tone:

"Listen folks, I'm going to be honest here. The computer is landing this plane. I'm up here saying yes or no. I just want to prepare all of you that as we get closer to the runway, if I don't like what I see, were going right back up!"

Fortunately, he liked what he saw!
