I'd be sure to mention that many (or all?) of the shows are On Demand on their website (which means you can watch them whenever you want.) Not quite sure on the insistence on trying to make a local copy (unless you need to watch them when you have no internet? Or there is some specific show that they only stream?)
Regardless, it'll be easier to make a copy from the On Demand section than trying to catch the streamed show, although an "old laptop" may not be up to the task regardless.
It just helps IT folks figure out best solutions when they have the full context of the request.
