Oink that is a lot to unpack and I will run afoul of the 2's if I go into full detail. Suffice it to say it's a feature of the system and not a bug. Certain types of organizations always vilify departing members. They utilize in-group/out-group mentality, phobias, and coercive control to lessen the impact of departing members.  Vilifying the departing members helps those remaining overcome cognitive dissonance and lowers the chance that they too will question their own involvement in the organization, which could lead to more defections.
