Aloha Leilanidude,
Who says the USPS is "not allowed" to put in individual mailboxes? That option is still a valid one that is stated in their current operating manual. In addition, they might not exactly be making a profit, but they sure are extending their hand and grabbing billions in federal money. Personally, I would challenge the USPS. Especially as I daily see new houses in Hilo that are receiving curbside delivery.
Still...
Getting back to this post, and leaving mailboxes (you would think the world revolved around mailboxes). I disagree with some others on this platform that we should not discuss the lawsuit, that HPPOA brought on themselves, because "it's in the hands of the court and the judge will decide." Great, the judge can decide. I do not believe anyone is taking that away from him. But we can all sure discuss the merits of the case, in the meantime.
The fact that HPPOA has pointed fingers at the Watumull's and accused them of being dishonest and manipulative says a lot about some on the HPPOA board and their lawyers- as in, they haven't a clue about what HPPOA is, or who the Watumull's are.
Supposedly, HPPOA and their lawyers brought the Watumull's into the lawsuit to "clarify." What exactly is HPPOA trying to clarify? That they didn't understand about the deed restrictions? That even if they did understand, it isn't their fault for breaking the deed restrictions because the deed restrictions are suddenly not fair and are "illegal?" That the Watumull's cheated them? That nothing HPPOA has done is their fault? Nothing, as in, calling out Owners to "bring it on," resulting in getting themselves sued, spending hundreds of thousands in legal fees, spending hundreds of thousands on a non-road project that may end up going nowhere, only being able to pave 1 mile (or even less) instead of 2, and on and on...
When are the HPPOA board's supporters going to wake up? When are they going to finally admit that what some on this board have done, whether intentionally or not, has cost HPP Owners a lot of unnecessary money? And all of this is HPPOA's fault- no one else's.
