Walk it... duh
Ive been down there 50+ times.....never drove my one chit., but I have got rides back up, thats the killer ....is climbing back up 900' elevation in under 1 mile... its the steepest Road on Earth... you will remember it...
ps some local kine in Honokaa run down to the beach and back up.... every single day.. you may see them.... the most common is a very tan polynesian gal with muscle legs.... she never stops the entire time...
aroha
its the = of hiking down to the river in the Grand Canyon, but you dont need the 2 gallons of water / person ...and there aint no donkeys pissing all over a 5' wide trail too...
but you will feel it the same as the GG and you may lose a toe-nail or 2 (weeks later.... from going downhill) if your shoes aint good...
if you go down. walk to end of beach go inland a bit and climb the switch backs to the 2nd or 3rd ocean side switch and thats the best place to take a photo... the trail here on north side of valley is literally 1,000+ yrs old and you will see evidence as the trail is dug out from millions of feet .....making it safer than if it was newer. and pali cliff-like..
