There are so many memories in this thread, although I forgot that the lead singer of Crash Test Dummies was an elf. As for monks and beer, the Belgian Trappist monks are the masters because, for whatever reason, their beer tastes terrific but is also very strong. I guess there's a reason for that, but I probably shouldn't speculate why.

Not sure if you meant that tongue in cheek, but monk seals did evolve, NOT to have defenses, because until recently they didn’t need any.

We are now their worst threat, but can also be their best defense.

Agreed, that is the point. We've evolved so quickly due to our brain that we're out-evolving everything else, but we also know we are.
