You are a mind reader terracore.  That is precisely what I would do!  Otherwise, alligator clips.

My first car that was all mine was a '79 toyota.  The fuse would blow if I tried to use the rear window defogger but it was a hatch back and that was too large of an area to not be able to see out of it.  So I used a paperclip as a temporary solution.  I would try to remember to turn it off before Something Bad happened, but sometimes I would forget until the smell of the burning paperclip reminded me.  

And by "temporary solution", I mean until I sold the car.
