FACT IS:. zero restaurants do good up there, low local $$ = not much interest locally. .
...every single eating place down the hwy to Hilo suffers...
even in Keaau.
and tourists often eat inside the park via tour vans/buses bring catered food in w/them made especially for them at Hilo Coffee, etc.
stand in mid Volcano Village and count the cars too.... not many at all on the side road, not many on the hwy fronting village too..
IMO Kona side tourist kooks eating in Punaluu or Kona before or after...

Kona side = high % of tourists on island
you have to drive rental car past the park to see any Volcano Village signage =
out of the way for anyone coming from Kona side
and they may not even know it exists...
