When "Slick" Willie Sutton was asked in the 1930s why he robbed banks, he replied, "because that's where the money is." But hey, giving up phones, computers, and all personal wealth would make one very immune to scammers so kuddos for thinking outside the box! Maybe include that in your messaging when you do your series of Boomers supporting Boomers local seminars.

Yes! Hauling 15" CRTs and beige towers to build up an appetite. Earliest games I remember getting working were like Doom, Warcraft II (zug zug!), and Scorched Earth, but that we usually just played side-by-side on a single computer. How about you?
Puna (and just our remote nature) are kinda still aligned with being anti-cloud and data-hoarding. One could have huge mp3/flak archives, all their favorite movies in disk or digital forms, complete local copy of all the millions of Wikipedia articles, tons of ebooks including DIY, construction, farming, howtos, etc, ROMs and emulators for tens of thousands of classic video games...
One could have that, probably should have that, and some people likely do have that especially after 2020 showed how shaky things could get (now there's apparently even apps for downloading Wikipedia?) I'll link up my media server to the mesh network when needed, or just wander the hills with goats and customized jump drives like a nomatic tech lending library providing front door delivery in exchange for some neighborhood fruits & veggies and warm hibiscus tea (#CozyApocalypseCore)
