Well 20 years ago was the time of Linda Lingle and the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative agreement, which at least got the process started in Hawai'i. But of course HECO has drug its feet in the decades since while the small upstart Kauai coop has raced ahead on renewables - amazing what you can do when you take the profit motive out of things. People could also just personally choose to do solar for themself and not wait around till HECO is forced kicking and screaming to make progress - there are always options, even if they are simple and small scale.

Actually, I stand corrected. The whole Karen thing was more of a millennial generation invention used to describe the Gen-X and boomer generation. I'm sure however, that Rob was and still is the true tie died hippy dude! And a boomer too! How about that!
Yeah, not all boomers are bad, just a voting majority over the years. The older, white, rich, male, hetro, non-union, southern and midwest conservatives that reelected Dubya 20 years ago really screwed the pooch on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, along with blocking Climate initiatives that would have kept us from being stuck with the Inconvenient Truth of ~$6 a gallon of gas today at the local Minit Stop. But hey, another round of Middle East adventurism will solve everything I'm sure; a old white rich male hetro non-union conservative from Florida said so!
I'd also venture to say, his webmaster is in any generational category EXCEPT that of a boomer.

How else can one stand to be in a room with a Gen-Xer unless they are "happy, sad, ill, angry, hungry, drunk, (and) stoned" while you constantly try to turn off the TV channel of Sponge Bob so you can go in and out of the Matrix? And besides, everyone knows when you have no more tools in your debate bucket, immediately throw out the "must be drunk and stoned" reference. Always a winner for you hey?

randomq - If we're going all the way back it would be playing Adventure on the Atari 2600, and Oregon Trail on an Apple II in school for me. And technically my first LAN game would have been "Midi Maze" on the Atari. (Amiga ended up being a way better system overall, but the Atari ST did have its dual MIDI ports going for it, which of course was for instruments, but could also work like a token ring network).
Interesting, didn't realize Faceball 2000 was an Atari port when we played it on the Gameboys. That MIDI as a token ring network up to 16 machines is pretty neat as well - quite the capable little machine! When not dying of dysentery, I got to "help" the Junior High teacher setup a token ring network when they replaced all the typewriters with computers for typing class - was a bit of a process as I remember it, but fun to get hands on and string some cable (super cool teacher for putting up with, and even encouraging, us dweebs - all kids should be so lucky :)
But yeah, before all that, it was grandma's house with the giant wooden console floor TV and the Light Sixer variant of the Atari 2600 for gaming outside the arcade - Defender, Missile Command, Pitfall, 4 player Combat and Pong with the paddle controllers was a regular, multi-generational hootenanny during family get-togethers. Even got the ill-fated E.T. game when it came out and tried to love it as much as I did the movie (was difficult, but was good at playing pretend ;) Unfortunately, that's one cartridge that didn't make it into the care package, and haven't ran across it at flea markets or swap meets - maybe have to grab it online for nostalgia's sake (this has been a fun trip through the mental and physical attic - thanks! :)
