I watched Project Hail Mary last night on Amazon Prime. Starring Ryan Gosling, it’s a sci-fi adventure and crowd pleasing mix of special effects, humor, and a welcome respite from real life discord. What happens when confronted with a life altering situation, or situations? Do we trust our own instincts and intelligence? Overcome our fear of one unknown, then another, then another?
Great script, beautifully filmed, 5 coconut rating.

In an entirely different direction, there’s Drunk History. I’ve been watching excerpts of speeches recently about the founding of America, the Declaration of Independence and other events. Much of it although taught in 4th grade, has been no more than a fictionalized appeal to what many apparently wish they were taught in 4th grade, or learned at recess from 5th graders having a laugh.
The Comedy Central TV series Drunk History is like that, but funnier, edited, so quickly paced, and probably all in all more accurate than the speech excerpts mentioned above, even though the story tellers are drunk. It’s rough, it’s raw, it would not be something you’d hear at a Sunday church service. You can find segments posted on YouTube.
