The Acetone struck my funny bone. Those seeing a measureable difference were probably benefiting from the acetones strong solvent properties nothing more than decarbonization of the valve and combustions chambers of the engine resulting in things like less detonation, improve air flow and cleaner fuel mixtures. Most professional injector cleansings and top engine cleaners produce the same results and are designed specifically for engines.

Amazingly enough just keeping your foot out of the depths of your throttle is enough to make a measureable difference, that is to say apply lighter pressure on the pedal and back off as possible to mantain you desired speed. Remember fuel mileage drops rapidly after 50 mph.



Bring your high mileage or poor performance vehicle in for an oxygen sensor checkup as this/these devices are what is/are determining the fuel adjustments/corrections made by the engine's controll module. Auto manufacturers build allowable ranges into the operating programs of engine computors to allow for "Acceptable Limits" Sometimes these acceptable limits are costing you 5,6,7,8+ mpg at the pump. There is a fine line between customer satisfaction and too many trips to the repair shop for an engine light on.

Someone mentioned tire pressure, I'd be willing to bet that if you leave that little responsibilty up to someone else to take care of, you won't have 4 tires all the same never mind to the right pressure get a gauge check and adjust them yourself.

The intention of the TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline standards is to create a winning situation for gasoline retailers, auto manufacturers and drivers. Currently, many gasoline retailers provide fuels with lower-quality additive packages that can build up deposits on fuel injectors and on intake valves. Others can build up deposits in combustion chambers and may lead to intake valve sticking. These lower levels of additives can have negative impacts on engine performance and vehicle responsiveness.

Of course living on the Island with the largest cattle ranch in the country one would think methane would be the natural alternative fuel to produce ; )
