Gardening in Volcano
#11
Hi Adam, right I did get that you're not trying to become a farmer ... even though I used the word farm.

What I meant is that
a) some crops here produce so much at one time it is almost annoying to have them if you don't want to sell them. Especially when everyone else has the same trees bearing at the same time, and you can't give it away.

Point being, no need to mourn the items on your wishlist that you can't grow. You can easily get them for little money and will have them given to you.

2) Some things that CAN grow are so much trouble because you have to spray, that again it is easier to let the pros grow them ...

I like to grow edibles that are easy, whereever I am, because I don't want to have to spray food crops.

Those easy crops, like lemons, bring a lot of joy.
Sweet basil does well on the island, also parsley. (and I've had oregano, thyme, and rosemary.) I enjoy harvesting these. Then there is cilantro, which I love but it bolts, and chives, which attract aphids like mad ... I let 'em go and don't fight it.
