Most if not all Realtors will recommend a home inspection. This is more for your benefit than it is for being approved for a loan, although most lenders do require a termite inspection report which usually is paid by the seller. If you feel you can't make your own inspection or don't have a friend who is knowledgable in such things, then it might be a good idea to have a professional come in and do a complete inspection. If he finds major work or repair needed, his report is a great bargaining chip. Some of the websites listed have pricing.
