There have been some proposals which would cover most everything addressed here regarding Pahoa.....but there is so little participation and involvement that it is doubtful anything can happen.
The formation of a legal Design District would go a long way to keep a lid on corporate logos when chains, like MacDonalds, inevitably show up. People yawn and look bored when the subject is raised but if we get golden arches at the entry of town then everyone will cry the blues.
There's a proposal for a series of tall posts with banners produced by local artists - the hope is to bing some local color and flare to compete with the Heclo high wire art. Almost no one wants to make an effort.
If those of you who talk about the things that can be done want to get involved - that might be effective. I keep telling people - it takes a village to make a village. Things don't happen by themselves.
