When I first moved to BI 20 years ago and lived in Waimea, we bought an old beater car. Needed new tires. Got a flat on Kaiwaihae Rd. three different people stopped to ask if I needed help as it was gettign dark and I must have looked forlorn trying to change the tire.
I remember when it was cool to hitch hike from one end of Kihei to the other in my early 20's.
I remember when you knew everyone so kids got in less trouble, because auntie would be calling their mom. "Hanai" had a real meaning.
Christmas party in Honomu where the whole town comes. And the old guy (94) who owned the store came even and tried to pick up the "widow women" in their 70's and 80's... ha ha
Mr. Ishigo's store - he is retired now at 90, but still goes and sits occassionally in front of his store (Now Mr. Ed's bakery)
I remember when 8 road in the acres, only was a 1 lane road paved to C Rd. The cut through to Ainaloa was a 4Wd drive road at best.
