Where is the Ball buster, Pohaku?
#24
I'd have to say that early on, I really enjoyed Pohaku. He seemed very well connected to the aina and the culture, and what I perceived as all things Puna. He also had a funny style, and I liked very much the few conversations that I participated with him.

Then things changed, or he changed, or something changed. Maybe he didn't respond well to the way that Rob Tucker manages HIS website, I dunno, but it seemed to develop into an online war that Pohaku seemed to perpetuate. It really was "all about him" towards the end of his stay here on Punaweb. Funny, with this thread, it still is "all about him". What other personality here on this website gets discussed as a personality, other than perhaps the moderator? Pohaku was a nice man, and I really enjoyed his style and outlook when he was describing in Pidgin his backyard chickens, the scenery, and other positives. But I don't participate here on Punaweb to watch an ongoing battle about anything, and particularly about any one individual here.

Oh, and Beachboy, class warfare is just offensive to some. Whether it's Micronesian-bashing, making assumptions about all haoles, all mokes, all business people, mainlanders, tourists, or whatever, I have found that, as a rule, people don't follow the rules. ;-) I could say bad things about "all surfer dudes", and I might be right about some of them, but I'm sure that there are all kinds of surfer dudes, from surfers who live in the bushes on the west side of O'ahu to lawyers and dentists who surf whenever they can off the coast in Orange County, CA. Probably quite a diverse group of people.

You said your "spectrum runs wide". Just a friendly suggestion, with aloha: try widening your spectrum just a little more regarding the Micronesians. I believe what you say about some of them, perhaps many of them, but like all other classes of people, I'm also certain that there are some Micronesians who are wonderful people. There are some really good rich people, and some real dogs. Most firefighters that I know and work with are decent, honest, hardworking people, but some of them have addiction problems, beat their wives, "lie, deny, and make sh*t up", and are otherwise just d*cks. I don't make any assumptions about a brother firefighter until I get to know him as a person.

Have a nice day in paradise. I hope to join you soon.

Aloha

How do I know?
Aloha! ;-)
