Maggie, glad you found a place, but please be aware that Ainaloa is one of those subdivisions that is now gentrifying but has been a hotbed of problems in the past. I'm not sure how to put this without sounding like I think all welfare recipients are trouble. I actually do not. But some households on welfare have problems, and the subdivisions with relatively small lots like Ainaloa and Hawaiian Beaches used to and perhaps still do work well for welfare recipients.
When I listen to the news and some crime has happened or domestic abuse, very often Ainaloa is named in the mix. I personally would not live there, but I have a shorter list of OK Puna subdivisions than many folks here.
Remember, there's always a reason something nice is affordable, and in Puna that reason is often Location Location Location.
