For the same twenty bucks you can go to Garden Exchange and buy a PH test tool. You stick a metal probe into the ground and read the numbers. 'Taint hard. My soil didn't read as acid as I expected it to, but then the fellow who gardened here before me put loads of oyster shell and opihi shell into the ground. Otherwise you can spread lime, drywall chunks, oyster shell, opihi shell, etc. around to lower the acidity.
